Dear Blue Sky (2012)
“Kim and I slid into his small black pickup. As we drove down Main Street, we saw Rob and Jesse and a few other guys throwing a football around in the town park. Kim elbowed me. Rob ran to catch the ball and slid on the white grass near us.
“That looks fun,” I said.
“Fun?” she said.
“You know those guys, right? I’ve seen them at the court,” Don said. He unrolled his window. “Hey, want a game?”
Kim groaned.
“Cool,” Rob yelled back, and waved at us to come over.
“I’m not playing. No way. Football is not my thing,” Kim said.
“Come on, you could probably play if you stopped talking long enough,” Don joked.
Kim and I were heading over to watch them when Sonia, Michaela, and Lisa came walking down the sidewalk from town. Lisa, petite with long brown curls of hair, waved.
“What are you guys doing here?”
