George M. Schweig, M.D., was a physician from New York, a member of the New York County Medical Society and of the Medical Journal Association of New York. He was one of the physicians to the New York Lying-in Asylum. His article On Some of the Uses of Galvanic and Faradic Baths, which was published in The Medical Record in 1874, increased his interest in the subject of electro-balneological treatment and he was induced by physicians from all over the United States and Europe to write about the subject further. The resulting work was The Electric Bath: Its Medical Uses, Effects and Appliance (1877). Other works include: Cerebral Exhaustion, with Special Reference to its Galvano-Balneological Treatment (1876).
